Self Inflating Sleeping Pads

How To Properly Clean and Store Your Self Inflating Sleeping Pad

A self-inflating sleeping pad is one of those products born out of necessity. Combining ease, comfort, compressibility, and mobility is no easy feat!

To maintain your self-inflating sleeping pad for years to come, here are a few tips to care for your self inflating sleeping pad without compromising next-season performance.

  1. Spray a degreaser on your self-inflating sleeping pad. A BioKleen All-Purpose cleaner does the trick.
  2. After spraying the self-inflating sleeping pad with the cleaning solution, wipe it down and then rinse thoroughly with water.

How To Store Your Self Inflating Sleeping Pad

To keep your self-inflating sleeping pad in shape without losing its cushion or performance, store it flat with the valve open. However, unlike an air pad, self-inflating sleeping pads tend to be bigger! How can you store it full size?

Here are some suggestions for storing your self-inflating sleeping pad without rolling it up or having it take up too much space:

  • Under your bed
  • Upright at the back of your closet
  • Tucked between your couch and wall
  • Behind a bookshelf

Make sure your sleeping pad is semi-inflated and the valve is left open before you store it. Moisture and temperature extremes can take a toll on your self-inflating sleeping pad, so avoid storing it in damp basements and places where there’s little temperature control, like your car trunk, garage, or attic.
